Welcome to BlackBook ("we," "our," or "us"). BlackBook is a personal relationship assistant app designed to help you nurture and maintain meaningful connections. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your information.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple User ID and, if you choose to share it, your name and email address.
- Contact Data: Names, phone numbers, emails, addresses, notes, and other details you add about your contacts.
- Profile Information: Your name, photo, job title, company, and other details you add to your digital business card.
- Interaction History: Records of calls, texts, meetings, and notes you log within the app.
- Reminders & Groups: Custom reminders and contact groupings you create.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility.
- Crash Reports: Technical information when the app crashes to help us fix bugs (provided through Apple's standard crash reporting).
How We Use Your Information
- Provide App Services: Store your contacts, display reminders, sync across your devices via iCloud.
- Improve the App: Analyze crash reports to fix bugs and improve stability.
- Customer Support: Respond to your questions and troubleshoot issues.
- Security: Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues.
Data Storage & Security
Local & iCloud Storage
Your contact data is stored locally on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This means:
- Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- Only you can access your data through your Apple ID
- We cannot access the contents of your iCloud-synced data
- You control your data through your Apple ID settings
- Data syncs automatically across all your Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account
No External Servers
BlackBook does not transmit your personal data to any external servers. All your information remains:
- On your device (local storage)
- In your private iCloud account (if iCloud sync is enabled)
We have no ability to access, view, or retrieve your contact data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your data is never shared for marketing purposes. We may share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With Apple (iCloud, App Store, Sign in with Apple) solely to operate the app.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you).
Your Rights & Choices
- Access & Export: Export all your data from within the app at any time (Pro feature).
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data through the app settings. Local data is removed immediately; iCloud data is removed according to Apple's data deletion practices.
- Contact Import: You choose which contacts to import; we never auto-import without your permission.
- iCloud Sync: You can enable or disable iCloud sync at any time in your device settings.
- Notifications: Control push notification preferences in your device settings.
Children's Privacy
BlackBook is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.
International Users
BlackBook is operated from the United States. Your data is stored locally on your device and in your iCloud account, which is managed by Apple according to their data residency policies. For information about where Apple stores your iCloud data, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of BlackBook after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
